Sept. 10: middle of fuckin' nowhere, Washington...

(This stretch was apparently so boring that I didn't take a single photo all day!)

Journal Entry: Sept. 10, 2014
PCT mile 2233.  18.5 miles today.  Indian Heaven Wilderness, etc.

"Woke up late (8:30) after a cold, windy night by Blue Lake.  Terese never arrived, but did show up in the A.M.  Last night I felt nearly frozen until the cold front passed at some point-- then woke up suffocating in sleeping bag, down coat, wool sweater, tights, socks... so hot.  Today was sunny & easy walking but my psyche was in the way.  I've gotten into the mindset of home, once again thinking about Bonnie, and also jobs, $$ & other worldly shit.
Left camp at the crack of 10:00 AM, walked 3 miles to water & wonderful blueberries at deer lake.  Another 3 miles an hour to a good view of Mt. Adams.  All of the first 9 miles were easy and fast, but then laziness caught me.  I sat down and re-read a letter from Ryan Casey at 4:50 pm tonight, 2.5 miles from camp.  It sucked me dry-- all the mental/emotional energy thinking about him.
Arrived at camp, wanting solitude but happy for Terese and P.B.  Made chai w/ cinnamon whiskey for all of us.  P.B was in a slump too.  We ate and made a nice fire and stayed up until 10:15 (late!) talking about life & love.  Hot cocoa for all of us, and now in 'bed' looking forward to town tomorrow.  Trout Lake! 5 miles to the road, and hopeful for a hitch into town..."
